My favorite music for massage

I feel like good music can significantly enhance a massage experience, not only by creating a relaxing environment but also by helping the therapist “flow” better. After all, music in and of itself is a form of therapy.

I often ask my clients before I start their massage if they prefer certain music during their session. Some people say that they don’t care, and I have gotten others who have put in specific requests, some of which I have enjoyed and added to my repertoire. Some I have not enjoyed at like my client who insisted on his music which ended up being some hard rap, which was horrible and very distracting to me. How the heck do I “flow” to that?! 😂 To each his own, but I won’t be accepting that request again. A great example of a request I have since added to my repertoire was a request for Loreena McKennitt, who is a Canadian singer with Celtic and Middle Eastern influences. I also like to listen to James Taylor if the mood strikes me and the client wants him. For more traditional relaxation massage music, I have been currently trending towards Danny Cudd, and whatever mix my iTunes decides to pair with him. The song that turned me onto him I heard at my massage therapist studio; I loved his use of horns in the song Remind; it gave it an urban sound. One of my teachers told me that she uses the same CD with the same music all the time over and over again to create a very consistent atmosphere from one visit to the next. While this does sound like a good theory, it would drive me crazy and make me completely bored eventually during my massages. I love hearing new music and changing it up, and I feel like it inspires me to move with the music and create a better, more flowing massage experience for my clients.
